Norris A Familiar Ping, A New Era I still remember the exact moment my iPhone 12 buzzed in my pocket at a crowded metro station in Delhi. It was 2020, and I’d just taken the plunge into Apple’s tightly-woven ecosystem after years on Android.  That vibration wasn’t a call or message - it was an alert that my new iPhone was out for delivery.  As a tech journalist, I knew I was joining more than a platform - I was stepping into a lifestyle millions obsess over. Since then, every September has felt like Christmas Eve for Indian Apple fans. But this year feels different.  The iPhone 17 series, especially the iPhone 17 Pro Max, represents a subtle shift in Apple’s hardware strategy - one that signals both continuity and evolution.  This article offers not just a breakdown of specs and price, but a ground-level view of how this r...

Summary Box

Google releases Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1.1 OTA update with multiple bug fixes

Issues like fingerprint failures, unresponsive navigation, and app crashes resolved

Update available for eligible Pixel 6 to Pixel 9 series devices

Google began rolling out the Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1.1 update on Wednesday, June 5, 2025, for Pixel users enrolled in the Android Beta for Pixel programme.

This latest beta build arrives just two weeks after the debut of Android 16, following announcements made at the Google I/O 2025 developer conference.

The new beta version addresses a number of bugs reported in earlier builds.

These include fixes for system crashes, fingerprint failures, missing interface elements, and UI display errors.

The update is being distributed over-the-air (OTA) to all compatible Pixel devices.

Bug Fixes in Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1.1

According to Google’s official release notes, several major and minor bugs have been fixed:

Navigation buttons not responding: Some users reported that the navigation bar became unresponsive when swiping through the home screen or app drawer, especially on Pixel 8. This has been fixed in the current beta build.

Wallpaper effects crash: One issue caused the system to crash when trying to open visual effects in the wallpaper settings.

Settings app crash: Attempting to access the battery menu in the Settings app previously caused a crash. This bug has now been resolved.

Fingerprint authentication failure: In low-power situations, devices with multiple user profiles faced failures in fingerprint authentication. The update has patched this issue.

Cut-off lock screen date: On devices using a wide clock style, the date was getting visually truncated on the lock screen. This display error has been fixed.

Search button color glitch: A cosmetic issue where the search button changed color while scrolling through certain pages has been corrected.

Missing approve button: The Device Admin settings page lacked an approve button in some builds. This has now been addressed.

Dark labels in photo picker: Albums displayed dark labels that were hard to read in the photo picker interface. The update rectifies this UI inconsistency.

Disappearing date on home screen: A bug that occasionally caused the date to vanish from the home screen has been fixed.

Eligible Devices for Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1.1

Google confirms that all eligible Pixel devices enrolled in the Android Beta programme are receiving the OTA update. The supported models include:

Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro

Android 16: What Is QPR?

QPR stands for Quarterly Platform Release. It is part of Google's strategy to deliver incremental Android improvements in between major annual updates.

These releases focus primarily on stability, bug fixes, and minor enhancements, ensuring that users get a more refined experience before the stable public release.

Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1.1 is part of the first QPR cycle for Android 16, and will be followed by more betas before the stable QPR release.

What’s Next?

According to Gadget360 Google is expected to continue updating Android 16 QPR1 Beta with additional refinements over the coming months.

A final stable QPR1 release is anticipated before the end of Q3 2025.

Developers and testers are encouraged to report any new issues using the Android Feedback tool.

No specific timeline has been confirmed for the public rollout of Android 16 on non-beta users’ devices.

However, Pixel devices are generally the first to receive stable builds once they’re finalized.

The Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1.1 rollout may seem like a routine update, but it reveals how carefully Google is responding to real-world usage issues.

From navigation bugs to UI inconsistencies, the fixes suggest the Android team is focusing heavily on polish and stability.

With Google now managing more device types under the Pixel brand, timely and reliable beta updates have become essential.

By continuing to provide these QPR builds ahead of major releases, Google is refining the Android experience while keeping its developer community actively involved.

Still, the long-term challenge lies in balancing rapid innovation with software stability—especially as Android powers everything from phones and tablets to foldables and wearables.

Huawei Watch GT 6 India Launch Leak: Two Sizes, Stylish Colors, Long Battery

Huawei Watch GT 6 India Launch Leak: Two Sizes, Stylish Colors, Long Battery New Delhi – July 23, 2025 By Michael B. Norris, Senior Tech Correspondent   When I ran my first half-marathon wearing the Huawei Watch GT 5, I didn’t expect it to outperform my chest strap monitor. It was early morning, cool winds cutting through Lodhi Gardens, and I’d just passed the 8km mark.  That’s when I glanced down at the GT 5 - expecting some lag or off-reading.  But no - it was spot-on, closely mirroring my Polar heart rate strap. Even after two hours, the battery barely budged. That experience marked a turning point in how I viewed Huawei's smartwatches.  The Watch GT series has always leaned into endurance over extravagance.  With the Watch GT 6 expected this fall, Huawei seems to be refining this formula - this time offering two case sizes and an array of bold new colors aimed at casual users and fitness-minded customers alike. But behind the color names and numbers lies som...

Nokia 5G Mobile New Launch: HMD Pulse 2, Crest 2, Bold Series Specs Leaked Ahead of India Debut

Nokia 5G Mobile New Launch: HMD Pulse 2, Crest 2, Bold Series Specs Leaked Ahead of India Debut Mumbai | July 22, 2025 I still remember standing in a cramped electronics shop in Karol Bagh, Delhi, back in 2017, clutching my last ₹10,000 and scanning the budget smartphone shelves with quiet desperation.  My previous phone - a once-reliable Nokia - had finally quit on me. I wanted something simple, durable, and capable of running the basics without overheating or dying halfway through the day.  What I got instead was a sluggish, ad-riddled Chinese model that began freezing within weeks. Ever since then, I’ve paid close attention to the budget smartphone space - not as a tech reviewer, but as someone who knows what it’s like when every rupee counts. That’s why the latest leaks around HMD Global - the company that once brought Nokia phones back into relevance - caught my attention. This isn’t just another spec dump. It’s potentially a quiet revolution in the sub-₹15,000 market. A...

HUAWEI MatePad Pro 12.2 Launched in India: 2000-Nit OLED, Glide Keyboard, Stylus Support

HUAWEI MatePad Pro 12.2 Launched in India: 2000-Nit OLED, Glide Keyboard, Stylus Support By Michael B Norris - July 25, 2025   I Left My Laptop Behind - And Didn’t Regret It Last month, I was en route to a regional tech forum in Kuala Lumpur. My usual travel companion? A compact but heavy ultrabook that’s been my workhorse for years. But this time, by accident more than intention, I left it charging at the office.  What I had in my bag instead was the newly released HUAWEI MatePad Pro 12.2 inch, still wrapped in review plastic and paired with its Glide Keyboard and M-Pencil. With deadlines looming and hours of panel coverage ahead, the panic should’ve hit me - but surprisingly, it didn’t. Over the next three days, I typed reports, edited video snippets, drew rough infographic sketches, and livestreamed commentary - all from this 508g tablet. It wasn’t just functional; it was liberating. That field experience is what makes the “Can tablets replace laptops?” debate more real th...
