Realme 15 Pro Plus Launch Confirmed: Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, 50MP Triple Cameras, ₹28,999 Starting Price

New Delhi, July 29, 2025 - By Michael B Norris

I still remember holding my first Realme phone at a local retailer in Connaught Place, New Delhi, five years ago.

It was affordable, surprisingly snappy, and felt like Realme had cracked the code for Indian buyers hungry for performance without breaking the bank.

Fast forward to 2025, and Realme is attempting to reshape that narrative again with its latest launch - the Realme 15 and Realme 15 Pro.

This article is here to evaluate how much of that vision still holds, and whether these new devices actually deliver on Realme's promises.

Power Under the Hood: A New Approach to Midrange Performance

Realme’s latest duo takes a decisive step forward in the spec race.

The Realme 15 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, while the standard Realme 15 gets the new MediaTek Dimensity 7300+ SoC.

Both are fabricated on efficient 4nm processes, which suggests a significant bump in power and thermal control over last year’s Realme 14 series.

These chips aren’t just about numbers. In hands-on testing at a Delhi-based retailer, app load times on the 15 Pro felt nearly instantaneous.

Switching between a YouTube video and a heavy photo-editing app showed no noticeable lag, something that midrange phones often struggle with.

Display Evolution or Just a Refresh?

At first glance, the Realme 15 and 15 Pro retain the same 6.8-inch OLED display, but this year’s upgrade to a 144Hz refresh rate delivers a more fluid user experience.

It’s a subtle improvement, but noticeable especially in fast-scrolling social media apps or gaming scenarios.

That said, not everyone is pleased. Reddit users and local consumers I spoke to voiced concern about the subtle curve in the display edges.

“Curved screens look premium, but they’re impractical,” said Akash, a college student and mobile gaming enthusiast. "I always worry about accidental touches."

Camera Bump In Specs, If Not in Substance

Realme makes a bold claim: three 50MP cameras on the Pro model.

That includes a primary Sony IMX 896 sensor, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 50MP front-facing camera.

However, a deeper look - and early teardowns from tech influencers - suggests that the third rear sensor may be a cosmetic placeholder, not a functional lens.

Retailer feedback supports this. “Customers are asking if all three lenses work,” said Mr. Jain, a smartphone retailer in Karol Bagh. “Many don’t realize it’s just there for symmetry.”

Still, the main and ultrawide shooters are undeniably capable.

Low-light photos have less noise than the Realme 14 Pro+, and the jump from an 8MP to a 50MP ultrawide sensor is a measurable improvement.

AI Features that Actually Work?

Both phones introduce Realme’s new AI Edit Genie. Unlike gimmicky AI add-ons, this one has practical value.

I watched a demo where a 10-second video of a street food vendor was transformed into a slick 5-second montage, cropping intelligently and adjusting exposure in real time.

For social-first users, that’s a real win.

Massive Battery, Minimal Bulk

The 7,000 mAh battery is arguably the biggest story here.

It’s the largest capacity in Realme’s history, and still supports 80W SuperVOOC fast charging.

Realme claims 1,600 charge cycles with 80% battery health retention - a claim that, if true, places it among the most battery-resilient phones in its class.

Despite this, the Pro model is just 7.69mm thick. I tested the weight in hand - it's noticeable, but not unwieldy. For power users, the trade-off might be welcome.

Pricing and Variants: Value or Vanity?

The Realme 15 Pro starts at INR 28,999 for the 8GB/128GB variant, going up to INR 35,999 for the 12GB/512GB model. The Realme 15 starts at INR 23,999.

To many Indian consumers, these numbers raise eyebrows.

“They’re pushing the Realme 15 Pro dangerously close to premium territory,” said Raghav, a tech YouTuber based in Gurugram.

"Why would someone pay INR 36,000 when they can get a Xiaomi phone with OIS and better software support?"

Design Language and Colorways

The design remains sleek, with Flowing Silver, Velvet Green, and Silk Purple options for the Pro, while the standard Realme 15 offers a Silk Pink variant instead.

In-store impressions from both shop owners and buyers suggest that Velvet Green is likely to be the bestseller - it hides smudges well and has a matte finish that doesn’t feel cheap.

Still, more than one buyer pointed out that aside from the back colors, there’s little real-world design differentiation between the two models.

Realme’s Strategy: Clarity or Confusion?

By naming the Realme 15 Pro as the successor to the 14 Pro+, Realme is attempting to simplify its lineup. But this creates confusion among users familiar with the old “+” convention.

A reseller in Pune told us, “People come in asking if the 15 Pro is better than 14 Pro+ - and they don’t understand why there’s no 15 Pro+ now.”

This naming strategy may streamline SKUs for Realme’s logistics, but at the cost of consumer clarity.

Final Takeaway: Real Improvement or Marketing Shine?

Let’s strip the launch hype. The Realme 15 and 15 Pro deliver meaningful hardware upgrades: more capable chipsets, better ultrawide cameras, and bigger batteries.

But questions remain around camera authenticity, price justification, and design choices like the curved display.

Realme fans will appreciate the performance jump, but budget-conscious buyers might hesitate.

As a long-time observer of India's mobile market, I’d say Realme is betting on users paying a little more for longevity and battery strength.

Whether that gamble pays off will depend on whether the competition stays stagnant - and that’s highly unlikely.

Huawei Watch GT 6 India Launch Leak: Two Sizes, Stylish Colors, Long Battery

Huawei Watch GT 6 India Launch Leak: Two Sizes, Stylish Colors, Long Battery New Delhi – July 23, 2025 By Michael B. Norris, Senior Tech Correspondent   When I ran my first half-marathon wearing the Huawei Watch GT 5, I didn’t expect it to outperform my chest strap monitor. It was early morning, cool winds cutting through Lodhi Gardens, and I’d just passed the 8km mark.  That’s when I glanced down at the GT 5 - expecting some lag or off-reading.  But no - it was spot-on, closely mirroring my Polar heart rate strap. Even after two hours, the battery barely budged. That experience marked a turning point in how I viewed Huawei's smartwatches.  The Watch GT series has always leaned into endurance over extravagance.  With the Watch GT 6 expected this fall, Huawei seems to be refining this formula - this time offering two case sizes and an array of bold new colors aimed at casual users and fitness-minded customers alike. But behind the color names and numbers lies som...

HUAWEI MatePad Pro 12.2 Launched in India: 2000-Nit OLED, Glide Keyboard, Stylus Support

HUAWEI MatePad Pro 12.2 Launched in India: 2000-Nit OLED, Glide Keyboard, Stylus Support By Michael B Norris - July 25, 2025   I Left My Laptop Behind - And Didn’t Regret It Last month, I was en route to a regional tech forum in Kuala Lumpur. My usual travel companion? A compact but heavy ultrabook that’s been my workhorse for years. But this time, by accident more than intention, I left it charging at the office.  What I had in my bag instead was the newly released HUAWEI MatePad Pro 12.2 inch, still wrapped in review plastic and paired with its Glide Keyboard and M-Pencil. With deadlines looming and hours of panel coverage ahead, the panic should’ve hit me - but surprisingly, it didn’t. Over the next three days, I typed reports, edited video snippets, drew rough infographic sketches, and livestreamed commentary - all from this 508g tablet. It wasn’t just functional; it was liberating. That field experience is what makes the “Can tablets replace laptops?” debate more real th...
