iOS 19 May Add Lock Screen Charging Indicator with Estimated Time

iOS 19 May Add Lock Screen Charging Indicator with Estimated Time

Apple is expected to reveal the next major update for iPhones—iOS 19—at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025.

The annual event, which begins in less than two weeks, will showcase updates across Apple’s ecosystem.

According to tech journalist Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, iOS 19 may include a battery charging indicator on the iPhone lock screen—a feature many users have long wished for.

This new indicator would give real-time estimates of charging time directly on the lock screen.

While this feature has been available on Android phones for years, it would be the first time Apple introduces such a convenience on the iPhone.

“There…will be a lock-screen indicator showing how long it will take to charge up,” Gurman said in his Power On newsletter.

What is the iOS 19 lock screen charging indicator?

This feature will show the remaining time needed to fully charge the battery, right on the lock screen. Currently, iPhones show only a percentage or a battery icon while charging.

With iOS 19, Apple may finally let users know exactly how much longer they need to keep the phone plugged in.

This small change could have a big impact. Users will find it easier to manage their time, avoid overcharging, and adopt better battery habits.

For example, some users prefer not to charge their devices up to 100% to preserve battery health.

With an estimated charging time displayed, users can unplug at the right time without needing to unlock the phone or open settings.

Why is this a big deal for iPhone users?

While Android users have had this feature for several years, Apple has been slow to adopt it.

iPhone users often rely on third-party apps or have to unlock the device and open the Control Center or battery widget to see similar information.

Placing this info on the lock screen would save time and make charging more transparent and efficient.

The lock screen indicator may be added as a Live Activity feature or a new widget. Apple could also integrate it into the default lock screen UI.

Although it is not a headline-grabbing feature, it’s the kind of user-centric improvement that makes daily use smoother.

Other iOS 19 features expected

The charging indicator is just one of many changes coming with iOS 19. According to Hindustan Times reports:

Apple may introduce “Transfer to Android”—a feature that allows easier eSIM transfers from iPhones to Android phones.

Siri is expected to get a major upgrade with help from Apple Intelligence, the company’s AI platform.

Some older iPhones and iPads may lose support for the new update.

Apple may also roll out additional features to improve battery life, security, and personalization.

WWDC 2025: What to expect

WWDC 2025 is scheduled to begin in mid-June, most likely on June 10, though Apple has yet to officially confirm the dates.

The company typically uses the event’s keynote to announce updates for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS.

Developers and users alike are watching closely. iOS 19 is expected to focus on AI features, improved performance, and subtle UI changes that enhance the user experience.

The lock screen battery indicator may not be flashy, but it reflects Apple’s attention to detail.

Michael B Norris Author’s Opinion

While the battery charging indicator may not revolutionize the iPhone experience, it is a meaningful enhancement.

It shows Apple listening to user feedback and catching up with features Android users have had for years. Small improvements like this can significantly improve day-to-day usability and user satisfaction

Key Takeaways:

iOS 19 may include a lock screen battery charging indicator.

The feature would show estimated charging time, helping users better manage charging.

It brings iPhones in line with Android phones, which already offer this.

Expected to be revealed at WWDC 2025 in mid-June.

Other possible updates: Siri upgrades, eSIM transfer, Apple Intelligence

Realme GT 7 and OnePlus 13R Launch in India: Mid-Range Flagships with Flagship Features

Realme GT 7 vs OnePlus 13R in India: Which Mid-Range Phone is Best for Gamers or Power Users I remember standing outside Connaught Place under the harsh Delhi sun, juggling two phones in my hands - Realme GT 7 in my left, OnePlus 13R in my right. OnePlus Pad 3 Launch Confirmed: Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, 3K Display, Big Battery Revealed

OnePlus Pad 3 Launch Confirmed: Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, 3K Display, Big Battery Revealed It was during a chaotic airport layover in early July when I first noticed how unwieldy most tablets still feel. A fellow traveler beside me was juggling video calls, PDFs, and spreadsheets on a device that looked cutting-edge but felt clunky. That’s when I remembered OnePlus was preparing to release its newest tablet - the OnePlus Pad 3. I made a mental note: if there was ever a moment a thinner, smarter, AI-enhanced tablet could matter, it was in that busy terminal. Fast forward a few weeks, and OnePlus has confirmed that the Pad 3 will officially go on sale in India this September.  While the announcement might sound like just another product launch in an already crowded market, the Pad 3 stands out - and not just for its specs.  With a blend of power, slim design, and meaningful software improvements, it signals how Android tablets are beginning to seriously challenge the iPad’s long-held...
