Galaxy Watch AOD Issue Fixed in Wear OS 6 Update

Galaxy Watch AOD Issue Fixed in Wear OS 6 Update

Galaxy Watch AOD Issue Fixed in Wear OS 6 Update

Summary

Google confirms Wear OS 6 will fix a major Always-On Display (AOD) limitation on smartwatches.

The update ensures persistent visibility of the last-used app in ambient mode.

Media controls will feature Material 3 design enhancements for improved usability.

Persistent App Visibility in Ambient Mode

On May 30, 2025, Google announced that the upcoming Wear OS 6 update will address a significant limitation in the Always-On Display (AOD) functionality on smartwatches, including Samsung's Galaxy Watch series.

Previously, when a non-AOD-supported app was active and the watch entered ambient mode, the display would blur, showing only the time and obscuring app controls.

This required users to perform gestures, like flicking their wrist, to exit ambient mode and interact with the app.

With Wear OS 6, the system will maintain the visibility of the last-used app in ambient mode.

This change allows users to access app controls, such as media playback buttons, without needing to exit ambient mode manually.

Google stated that the "previous top activity remains visible and in the 'resumed' state when the device enters system ambient mode," enhancing the overall user experience.

Enhanced Media Controls with Material 3 Design

According to Phone arena reports In addition to functional improvements, Wear OS 6 will introduce visual enhancements to media controls.

The update incorporates Material 3 design elements, featuring thin color outlines of media controls displayed against a black background in ambient mode.

This design aims to provide a more intuitive and aesthetically pleasing interface for users interacting with media playback features on their smartwatches.

Broader Implications for Smartwatch Users

The AOD improvements in Wear OS 6 are part of a broader effort to enhance smartwatch usability.

By maintaining app visibility in ambient mode, users can interact with their devices more seamlessly, reducing the need for repetitive gestures.

This change is expected to benefit various applications beyond media playback, including navigation and fitness tracking, by providing continuous access to essential app information.

Availability and Device Compatibility

Wear OS 6 is anticipated to roll out to compatible smartwatches later this year. Samsung's Galaxy Watch series, including the Galaxy Watch 4, 5, 6, and 7, are expected to receive the update.

Users should monitor official announcements from Google and Samsung for specific release dates and device compatibility information.

The forthcoming Wear OS 6 update represents a significant step forward in addressing user experience concerns associated with the Always-On Display feature on smartwatches.

By ensuring persistent app visibility in ambient mode, Google acknowledges and responds to a common user frustration, enhancing the practicality of smartwatches in daily use.

The integration of Material 3 design elements further refines the interface, offering a more engaging and user-friendly experience.

This update not only improves functionality but also demonstrates a commitment to continuous improvement in wearable technology. As smartwatches become increasingly integral to users' digital lives, such enhancements are crucial in maintaining relevance and user satisfaction in a competitive market

OnePlus Pad 3 Launch Confirmed: Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, 3K Display, Big Battery Revealed

OnePlus Pad 3 Launch Confirmed: Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, 3K Display, Big Battery Revealed It was during a chaotic airport layover in early July when I first noticed how unwieldy most tablets still feel. A fellow traveler beside me was juggling video calls, PDFs, and spreadsheets on a device that looked cutting-edge but felt clunky. That’s when I remembered OnePlus was preparing to release its newest tablet - the OnePlus Pad 3. I made a mental note: if there was ever a moment a thinner, smarter, AI-enhanced tablet could matter, it was in that busy terminal. Fast forward a few weeks, and OnePlus has confirmed that the Pad 3 will officially go on sale in India this September.  While the announcement might sound like just another product launch in an already crowded market, the Pad 3 stands out - and not just for its specs.  With a blend of power, slim design, and meaningful software improvements, it signals how Android tablets are beginning to seriously challenge the iPad’s long-held...
